Hey!

For training purposes I always carry treats with me when I walk my dog. I generally carry turkey but there are certain moments when my dog loses interest in the turkey. I would like to occasionally change what I'm offering him to see if another option seems more enticing.

What 'high value' treats does your dog prefer?

Thanks!

Hannah

Hey Hannah!

I’ve had good luck with small pieces of cheese, like string cheese or cheddar. He’s also a big fan of freeze-dried liver or chicken, those really seem to get his attention. I’ve even used little bits of hot dog when we’re working on something he’s struggling with, and that seems to really motivate him.

Good luck finding something Rocket loves!

Linda

Hi Hannah!

I totally get what you mean about switching up treats. My dog loses interest in the usual turkey now and then too! I’ve found that he absolutely goes wild for bits of cooked chicken or even little pieces of boiled sweet potato. Sometimes, I’ll break off tiny pieces of soft training treats, like ones with a meaty scent, and that always gets his attention..

It’s funny, but he also really loves a good (low-sodium) beef broth ice cube when it’s hot outside though that’s more of a reward for a good walk than a training treat.

Hope one of these ideas will work for your dog too!
