Hey everyone,
I’m still figuring out how to manage Ollie’s crazy energy while I work from home. He’s a 2-year-old Lab, and honestly, I feel like I can never get enough work done when he's around. He’s constantly bouncing around, looking for something to do, or pestering me for attention.
I’ve tried taking him out for a walk or playing fetch during my lunch break, but it doesn’t always seem to tire him out. He’s just always ready to go, and I’m running out of ideas to keep him occupied without constantly getting distracted.
How do you all manage your dog’s energy while trying to work from home? Any tips or products that have worked for you?
Thanks in advance!
Rach
Hey Rach,
I totally get it, Luna can be just like Ollie when she’s got too much energy. I struggled a fair bit in the beginning but here are some tips that work for us:
-
Puzzle toys: Anything that keeps Luna’s brain working, like treat-dispensing toys, can help tire her out a bit. Might work for Ollie too!
-
Chew toys: I give Luna a good chew toy with some peanut butter in it when I need a break. It keeps her busy for a while.
-
Quick training sessions: I know it sounds like a lot when you’re busy, but just 5-10 minutes of training every few hours helps burn off some energy and keeps them focused.
-
Scheduled playtime: Maybe set up a few short play breaks during the day. A quick tug-of-war or fetch session here and there can help.
-
A chill spot: Luna’s learned to hang out near me while I work, but she knows when it’s time to relax in her bed. Maybe Ollie just needs a comfy spot where he can chill for a bit.
Hope that helps!
